A Word From Nora Ephron (1941-2012)
It was with a great sense of sadness that I heard the news late this afternoon of the passing of Nora Ephron. Truly, one of the legendary Writer/Directors in the film world, but more than that, one of the great Journalists, whose numerous essays appearing in Esquire Magazine in the 1970′s ranked her as one of the great wits and observers of life in skewed times.
I ran across an interview she did in 2009 for the BBC Radio 4 Film Programme from September 13, 2009. She is promoting Julie & Julia, which had just been released. The interview, conducted by Francine Stock, covers a wide area; from her work with Meryl Streep to her life as a writer, and it’s offered here as an appreciation for the life of a gifted and brilliant talent and a remembrance of her work for which she will always be remembered.
Here is that interview, as run on BBC Radio, September 13, 2009.
