News for this October 26th in 1951 had to do with the surprise victory and return of the Conservative Government of Winston Churchill to power in Great Britain.

Speculation was rife over how this turn of events would impact Britain’s future, particularly in the Middle-East where demonstrations were taking place in Egypt and specifically in Iran where the matter of Oil and British interests in the region were concerned. The future was looking murky.

Elsewhere, news on the War in Korea was continuing, the Cold War was underway and the world was its usual uncertain self.

That, and a lot more via this edition of Edward R. Murrow and The News, with Murrow reporting from London and Bill Shadell reporting from New York, for October 26, 1951.
