Continuing our monitoring of activity during this Festival season, I ran across this concert recorded Saturday at Le Printemps de Bourges Festival in France. A two-day Festival (Saturday and Sunday), one of the headliners was the Irish Indie band Villagers, who turned in a high-energy set, met by a high-energy audience. Good exchange all around.

I just check their site, and as of today, Villagers are set to perform in no les than 27 festivals between now and the first week of September. Twenty-seven festivals, going all over Europe . . .and that’s not counting Spain.

In case you haven’t noticed, Festivals are becoming huge all over the world, the U.S. quickly playing catch-up with everybody else. It is the one place you can emerse yourself in wall-to-wall music from morning to night (or in the case of New OrleansJazz Fest – 24 hours, if you take into consideration the massive number of clubs participating). It’s an embarrassment of riches to anyone who has even a passing interest in contemporary music.

And needless to say, if you possibly can, get to a festival near you this Spring/Summer.

But for now – here is what you may have missed on Saturday if you weren’t anywhere in France to hear them.

Crank it up and check them out.
