With the sad news (again) today of the passing of one of the great Jazz/Funk/Fusion keyboard players, George Duke, I thought it would only be fitting as tribute to play one of his memorable concerts. This one comes from Berlin and features, in addition to the stellar George Duke Band lineup of Charles Icarus Johnson, guitar – Byron Miller, Bass –  Ndugu Chancler, drums – Sheila E., percussion and vocals; Josie James, vocals and Muffy Hendricks, vocals – it also features a surprise appearance by Herbie Hancock joining in for an encore.

In memory of a wonderful musician and remarkable human being who will be very much missed, here is The George Duke Band live at Philharmonie Hall, Berlin. Recorded by RBB Radio Berlin on November 3rd, 1977.
