EXCUSE THE INTERRUPTION BUT . . . .We’re coming up on the last few days of our Indiegogo/Past Daily/Gordon Skene Sound Collection Fundraiser. We’re still a ways to go before we hit our actual goal ($15,000) and we NEED DESPERATELY YOUR HELP.
I know it’s a pain, to be getting these appeals every few days – and the barrage of e-mails, but we really need your TAX DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION in order to keep Past Daily going and to continue our work preserving, restoring and sharing all the audio history via our archive, The Gordon Skene Sound Collection.
We’ve been here every day, posting bits of history and culture – interviews, concerts, events – because we’re committed to sharing all of this with you. We think it’s important and we think information about your world is vital, particularly how events in the past have shaped what goes on in our present.
That’s why we’re passing the hat, hoping you’ll chip in what you can, helping make a difference.
Because the Archive is now a non-profit, we’re able to share much more with you, as well as being able to apply for grants in order to upgrade and repair necessary vintage equipment, hire staff and expand our cramped quarters. But that won’t happen until next year. Between now and January we still need to continue operating and that’s why we’re appealing for your help.
With only 6 days left we need to raise $10,000. And we can do it, with your help. So far this year we’ve had over a million visitors to our site. If each of you gave as little as $5.00 we’d have enough to keep operating for the next 10 years. Even if a fraction of you gave only $5.00 we’d still have enough to keep operating for at least 5 years. And when you think about it – your average Starbucks visit costs more than that. And for those of you who still do, we’re asking for less than the cost of a pack of cigarettes.
So we’re really not asking a lot from a few of you. But we are asking a little from as many of you who can afford it. I know times are tough – the economy isn’t all what you’d like it to be. I’m not asking for you to chip in if it means a hardship or going without something. But if you CAN AFFORD IT, please consider making a CONTRIBUTION – which you will be able to write off, come Tax Time.
