Over to Finland this week for a concert, recorded live on April 23rd featuring the Lahti Symphony conducted by Okko Kamu and featuring Heini Kärkkäinen, Piano, Réka Szilvay, violin and Marko Ylönen, cello playing the Beethoven Triple Concerto. Also on the program is Silence, by Kalevi Aho, Harri Ahmas: Lux Arctica, Joonas Kokkonen‘s Symphony Number 4 and Sibelius’ Festivo.

The concert was recorded by the Finnish Radio Network YLE and it comes just under 90 minutes, so it all fits on one player.

Here’s the lineup:

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra, cond. Okko Kamu,
Heini Kärkkäinen, piano, Réka Szilvay, violin, and Marko Ylönen, cello.

1. Kalevi Aho: Silence.
2. Ludwig van Beethoven: Triple Concerto in C Major.
3. Jean Sibelius: Festivo series of historical pictures of I.
4. Harri Ahmas: Lux Arctica (Wed.).
5. Joonas Kokkonen: Symphony No. 4 – live broadcast Sibelius Hall in Lahti

The announcements are in Finnish (in case you were wondering), but I have edited them down for time’s sake as the concert went originally over 2 hours.

Still, very enjoyable and always nice to hear what’s going on in other parts of the world.

Enjoy.
