Over to Paris tonight for a session by New Chanteuse on the French scene Mauve Lunel, recorded in session at RFI for a broadcast over France International in March of this year.

Mauve Lunel is a relative newcomer to the scene, having relocated from New Delhi, Montreal, Paris and finally settling in Nantes. Her debut ep came out this past February to good reviews and a growing audience.

Her songs have a tinge of acoustic Folk/Pop and her voice has a dreamy hypnotic quality. A nice combination.

This session gives a good sampling of what this talented new artist is all about. Even if French isn’t your first or second or even third language, the emotion and the luxuriant quality of her voice make understanding the language secondary – although she’s a very talented songwriter, the language barrier should never stop you from enjoying the work of an artist.

No need to crank this one up – just relax and enjoy.
