Day # 8 – End of the week, 4% funded and moving quietly along. A huge thanks and debt of gratitude to the ones chipping in so far. You’re making an enormous difference and I feel like we’re heading in the right direction. Sometimes you just don’t know. Much as it’s hard to compete with all the news of the day, the other people and organizations asking for contributions and just the day to day stress, it’s hard to know if you’re doing the right thing or not. Past Daily is a mashup of news, history, culture and music. It’s eclectic for a reason. It’s eclectic because people are not all about one thing that drives us or inspires us. And most people are curious; we want to know why things are the way they are; how did they get that way. Is it really true about the definition of insanity – that we really do the same things over and over, expecting a different result? I’d like to think not, but from listening to the news reports I run every day, from broadcast history going back some 90 years, the answer would appear to be; we do. I don’t know if that’s comforting or disturbing, but it is informing. And maybe, in some small way I’m hoping we’ll try something different. But all the other stuff – the interviews with Lee Strasberg talking about Acting. Carmen Miranda talking about her career; the thousands of interviews that make up Past Daily, and are part of our weekly posts – along with all the music; the eclectic music that’s seemingly all over the map; the vast tapestry of music and musicians; genres, styles and personalities. My only criteria is that it’s good, or it’s trying to make a difference. I don’t often know if I succeed – but I certainly know when I fail – many of you are quick to point that out. But the vast majority feel the way I do, and that gives me a lot of hope. And that’s why I’m asking for your support to continue this journey, offering aspects of our culture you may not be familiar with, or reminders of what you’ve forgotten. And it’s here every day – and here for you when you need it.
