Must they badger?
Making the case for a contribution – no matter who is listening.

We’re inching up slowly – but we’re still moving. Your contributions and pledges are trickling in, and that’s good. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate and how grateful I am for all your support so far. History is a tough sell – Pop Culture, not so much. And I can understand that – a lot of history is about upheaval and wars and stress. Pop Culture is about defining moments about us – those points in time where we discovered things, heard a piece of music for the first time; where we were when our minds changed. And I really don’t blame you for wanting to hear Pink Floyd from 1967 over a News broadcast from 1950, smack in the middle of the Red Scare. Sometimes you just want to be reminded of the good stuff, and the not-so-good stuff you put in the same classification as Broccoli – don’t like the taste, but it’s good for you in the long run. Past Daily tries to accomplish both things – the good and the uncertain, both in the same place. History you can Dance to, if you want – or History you can understand the present with. Both work and both are important, and we’re about the only place in the world who does that – except perhaps the BBC, but they’ve been around a lot longer than Past Daily. We still try our best. We are a work-in-progress – we’re not finished yet – we still have thousands of hours of history to preserve, digitize and post every day on the site. And that’s why we need your help. I can’t do this alone – I’ve tried, but it’s tough – and all I’m asking is for your to chip in what you can – the price of a cup of coffee (as many of you have); that works perfectly well. We just need a lot of you to do that. And that’s why I put up these daily appeals; to remind you that we’re in this for the long-haul and love what we do and we want to continue sharing it with you – and we need your help to let us do that. So – please consider your Tax Deductible contribution, and make the decision to be part of preserving history and making it available to everyone – that’s all I ask.

And all I ask is you click on the link in the box below and make your pledge today – takes about a minute – lasts about a lifetime.

Till next time,

Gordon
