I was there ! By that time I didn’t know particulary good the 2nd of Enescu and yet,it made a great impression on me.Now,after hearing all versions on the market(the CDs) I must agree this Kocsis’s life performance is by far the best I’ve ever heard. A full of passion and still very modern approach.A very supple and dynamic orchestra giving sense and life to this highly complex and fascinating (almost crazy!)score.Indeed, due to the striking density of polyphony, there were voices I’ve heard here for the first time.Very adequate tempi and rubati.Great conductor !
