The Proverbial Wolf at the metaphoric door.

It’s always a pain to post one of these appeals. In a perfect world, ads would support the day to day running of this site and would help fund the ongoing preservation of thousands of hours of rare recordings. I wouldn’t have to bother you with dire predictions and annoy you with endless rants for donations.

But the world isn’t perfect and bills are reality and sometimes preservation just can’t wait.

So that’s why I need your support. If you like history and like what this site is all about, please consider making a donation in order to keep the site alive and the work continuing. All of this costs and the out-of-pocket expenses to run a site like this are rather steep.

Storing this material alone requires over 2,000 square feet of warehouse space. On average, each of the posts you read every day takes about five hours to produce. Between digitizing the audio, scanning the rare and unique photos, writing the copy and uploading everything. It all takes time.

But I got into collecting this stuff because I thought history was important, even as a kid. And so much of it has been destroyed. In some cases, what exists in the archive is the only known copy available anywhere. I didn’t plan it that way – it just happened.

And the last thing I want to do is put everything in an institution where you have no access to it – the audience that benefits from it the most.

So in my way I am trying to keep history alive and vital and important – because so much of what has gone on recently has its roots somewhere in the past.

And that’s why I need your help and your support. So anything you can feel comfortable giving would be gratefully appreciated – I’m here because of you and you can make a difference.

Please consider it and I promise not to make a pain out of myself.

Here is the place you click on to make a donation – it’s easy and painless – I swear.
