You don’t have to go back very far in history to find a string of empty promises when it comes to dealing with the matter of the unhinged in our society and their access to hardcore firepower. You only have to go back one year to the incident in Tucson, Arizona and the carnage that ensued when a deranged gunman descended on a constituents meet-and-greet with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to realize the hand-wringing and soul-searching has a history.
Here is an episode of Face The Nation from January 11, 2011. The grief, dismay, anger and vows to bring the problem and its solution to the forefront of the National Conversation all sound painfully familiar.
And, as you recall, the conversation evaporated, the solutions were never discussed, the vows were never fulfilled.
