Sadly, another passing this week. This time for legendary Afro-Cuban Jazz pianist Bebo Valdes who died on March 22nd at the age of 94. Without a doubt, a huge and prolific life – but a sad passing of another giant in music. This is not shaping up to being a good year, as far as music is concerned.
So, as tribute to an artist whose contribution to the Afro-Cuban genre of Jazz is inestimable, here is a concert featuring Father and Son, Bebo and Chucho Valdes, and a host of guest appearances, from the 32nd annual Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival in Spain in 2009.
Recorded by Radio Nacional Espana’s Radio 3, here is that complete 90+ minute concert.
