Here we are – day 3 and only a few more days to go before I stop annoying you until the middle of next year. I know a lot of you have come for a visit lately, some for the first time – but a lot of you are regulars. You come by every day and check out what’s new and what’s relevant and what’s just odd. This is what I do. Welcome to my somewhat skewed world.
For those of you who don’t know – Past Daily is the sum total of my decades worth of collecting. Those years of digging in dumpsters, trading with friends, buying at garage sales and cleaning out radio stations are paying off – and you get to be the recipient of all this collected swag I’ve been dragging around for years.
But all this comes with a price. When you have an archive of some 250,000 reels of tape – 100,000 records and thousands of books of photos and research, it has to live someplace. And a lot of this material is fragile, so it needs to be preserved and digitized and cleaned up. This is what I do most days when I’m not posting.
It all costs, and it costs a lot, and that’s why I need your help in keeping the archive up and running in order to give you the best and most unique of anything you’ll find anywhere.
Obviously, if a few of you chipped in a Grand here and there, it would help enormously. But life doesn’t work that way. It’s the people who toss in a few bucks here and there who make all the difference. For the price of a Latte at Starbucks you can keep me going for a year – that’s a bargain. And since I offer everything on my site for free, think of how much more money you save – and that’s a lot of Latte’s at Starbucks.
Even if you’re not a coffee drinker, donating to Past Daily saves you money. Especially if you’re a collector or student or teacher. I’m offering you things you can’t get anywhere else.
Even if you aren’t a collector or student, but just someone who enjoys listening to history and becoming aware of things that happened before that are happening again, this is a great site for you.
