Diving into the world of Post-rock tonight with Mogwai, recorded live during the 2001 Reading Festival by the venerable BBC 6 Music.
Mogwai are one of those bands who are constantly evolving and growing. Together since 1995, the almost exclusively instrumental band has been creating a very solid and expanding audience both here and in the UK. with some 8 albums to their credit.
Tonight’s post features one number, coming in at a little over 29 minutes, it’s a prime example of what Mogwai are all about. Extended solos and lengthy excursions into electronics and noise and coming out the other end.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are not shy of experimenting and trying new things. And the audience at this Reading Festival was more than happy to go along for the ride.
