Staying in Madrid this week for another session, this time by Cosmosoul, a band consisting of members from Madrid, Naples, Lagos Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau. A true musical mashup and the results are a sensational and seamless stew of five cultures. Together since 2010, and with their first album, Sunrise, recorded and released a year later, Cosmosoul have already captured a lot of attention from audiences and critics alike. Winning the 2012 Gilles Award for Best Black Music Group and acknowledged as one of the major up-and-coming Soul/R&B/Funk outfits in Madrid, Cosmosoul have scored very highly for being together such a short period of time. And the luxuriant, sensual vocals of Alana Sinkey cast a hypnotic spell over the entire proceedings – the perfect icing on the wondrous cake.
Tonight it’s a session from RNE Radio 3, as part of their daily Los Conciertos de Radio 3 program. Broadcast on January 15th (just last week), here is a taste of a band you will no doubt be hearing a lot from in the coming months.
