Over to Madrid via Brooklyn tonight for a session by American Garage-Rock/Punk/Indie/Twang practitioners The Obits, recorded by the venerable Radio Nacional España Radio 3 just a couple weeks ago (February 4th).
Together since 2006 and with three albums to their credit, including their latest, Bed and Bugs which came out last year, they’ve been touring around Europe getting word-of-mouth going at the beginning of the year. So far, so good. They’re heading down to Brazil in May for a few gigs. One of the better kick-ass examples on the current scene. Good, solid, basic, no-frills, what-you-hear-is-what-you-get kind of band there never seems to be quite enough of.
Check out their website and see what they’re up to. They’ve got all the requisite goodies (albums, t-shirts, tickets), and this live session for Spanish radio ought to give you a good idea what they’re all about.
So get your credit cars handy and pay them a visit when they hit your town – which should be around Summer, maybe?
