Another classic rehearsal this week. This time it’s The Boston Symphony, under Charles Munch and guest artist Yehudi Menuhin in a rehearsal of the Max Bruch Violin Concerto.

It was broadcast on February 24, 1951.

One of the greatest violinists of the 20th century, it’s a rare occasion to hear Yehudi Menuhin in a rehearsal setting and this one, as always, provides a fly-on-the-wall to the proceedings and the process involved with solo artist and orchestra.

As with all the others from this series, there isn’t a complete performance of the concerto – sadly, the usual 1/2 hour snippet. But it’s a historic recording and another in a fascinating collection of classic broadcasts.

Enjoy and come back next week.
