Over to Moscow this week for a concert celebrating the birthday of the late legendary Pianist and celebrated Music Professor Vladimir Krainev, who was born on April 1, 1944 and would have been 70 this year.

This concert, featuring the National Philharmonic of Russia, conducted by Vladimir Spivakov features two piano soloists who were closely associated with Krainev as students – Igor Tcehtuev and Alexander Romanovsky.

The first half of this concert (top Player) features the Orchestra and Vladimir Spivakov with Igor Tchetuev in Mozart’s Piano Concerto Number 27, K. 595. The second half (bottom Player) features Alexander Romanovsky with the Orchestra in Prokofiev‘s Piano Concerto Number 2.

It’s all recorded live, as it was happening on April 1st of this year, by the venerable Radio Orpheus (formerly Radio Moscow). And of course, all the announcements are in Russian.

Perfect to go along with Hump-Day Rush Hour.
