Festival Season is here – going from one Spring gathering-of-the-tribes to the next – tonight it’s former Patti Smith guitarist-now-High-Priest-of-Mind-Melt, Lenny Kaye, joining forces with Harsh Toke in concert at Roadburn 2014, recorded just a few days ago by the venerable VPRO and their local radio outlet 3VOOR12 in Amsterdam.

Any notions that Psychedelia is dead are quickly dispelled about 10 seconds into this set. Kaye and the band go from one high-voltage mind-excursion to the next in a numbing wall-of-sound that only lets up toward the end when Lenny introduces the band – and then it’s back into the soup for the final sprint to the finish.

Not something you want to listen to if you’re in the mood for calm, peaceful and mellow – this one is jet-propelled and I would imagine they did some hearing damage during the live concert.

But if you feel adventuresome tonight, and don’t want to wait for the weekend, then have at it – especially if you don’t feel like going to sleep anytime soon.

And . . .while you’re at it – we’re still in the middle of our Spring Fundraiser here at Past Daily. We’re slowly digging away at our $10,000 goal for this year and anything you can chip in to help keep the site up and the history flowing will be more than appreciated. Those of you who have been generous so far, you rock! Whatever you can chip in would be fantastic and, if you would tell your friends to come pay a visit, that would be cool too.
