In what began on the 31st of May and ended on June 4th of 1940, the largest evacuation of an army had taken place. The evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from France took place in the area around the port of Dunkirk, south of the Belgian border.

On June 2nd, as the evacuation was in it’s end stages, War Minister Anthony Eden addressed the nation (and the world) on the situation that was taking place.

Here is that broadcast, as it was relayed to the U.S. via NBC Radio on June 2, 1940.
