With the sad news earlier today of the passing of Spanish Conductor Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, I thought I would re-run a concert he performed with the legendary Guitarist Pepe Romero with the Danish National Symphony, recorded last year.

A wonderful musician who worked up to the very end, and only recently announcing his retirement, de Burgos was a much admired and celebrated figure throughout the Music world.

For those of you who missed this post, which I originally ran in April of this year, here is the rundown.

Concierto celebrado en la Sala de Conciertos de la Radio Danesa el 21 de marzo de 2013. Grabación de la DR, Dinamarca.

Part 1 (Top Player)
1. FALLA: El amor brujo (suite).

2.ROMERO: Fantasía para guitarra y orquesta.

3.RODRIGO: Concierto de Aranjuez.

Part 2 (Bottom Player)

1.KOCH: Fanfare.

2.BEETHOVEN: Sinfonía no 5 en Do menor, Op. 67.

P. Romero (guit.), Orq. Sinf. Nacional Danesa. Dir.: R. Frühbeck de Burgos.

A tremendous gift and a consummate musician who brought light and intelligence and am impeccable point of view to the world of Music.

May he rest in peace and may his memory and his contribution never be forgotten.
