Taking a brief detour back to the 70s tonight with a concert by California’s own Dead Kennedys. Recorded live at Old Waldorf by the venerable Terry Hammer for KALX in Berkeley on October 25, 1979.
The West Coat was certainly a hotbed of Punk activity in the late 70s all the way into the 80s. Dead Kennedys were one of the most popular at the time, lead by the inimitable (and now Political candidate-at-times) Jello Biafra.
The hits are here, including Holiday in Cambodia.
Crank it up.
And while you’re doing that – take a couple seconds out to chip in some Tax Deductible dollars to the Past Daily/Gordon Skene Sound Collection Fundraiser via Indiegogo. We’re doing really poorly, which leads me to suspect there’s nobody reading this, and nobody listening to this, and nobody really cares about history. Please make a liar out of me and kick in a couple bucks to keep us up and running. Click on the logo below the Piano Playing Dog:
