The second major hurricane of the season, Hurricane Charley was bearing down on Orlando Florida with up to 160 mile an hour winds, making it the first Category 4 Hurricane of the season.

Two million people evacuated the area, but in the end 10 were reported dead with over $13 Billion in damage, making it (as of 2004) the second costliest Hurricane in U.S. history.

While the events were unfolding, here is an excerpt as it happened from continuous coverage of the arrival of Hurricane Charley from WDBO in Orlando Florida.

There was a lot going on in other places that day, but Hurricane season was getting hot and heavy for this August 13th in 2004, and much of America was paying attention to that.

And speaking of getting things underway, we’re still in the midst of our Indiegogo/Past Daily/Gordon Skene Sound Collection Fundraiser and still need your support and Tax Deductible contributions to keep our preservation, restoration and website going to bring you all that stuff of history you maybe forgot about or never knew happened. We’re here to turn you on to things, and we love to do it. But we need your help to continue making that happen. So, whatever amount you can chip it, it’s more that gratefully appreciated – it means you care about what we’re doing and want to see it continue. So . . .you know the drill – click on the headline just below out Piano playing/singing Mascot and make your Tax Deductible pledge today. Please?
