Two million people evacuated the area, but in the end 10 were reported dead with over $13 Billion in damage, making it (as of 2004) the second costliest Hurricane in U.S. history.
While the events were unfolding, here is an excerpt as it happened from continuous coverage of the arrival of Hurricane Charley from WDBO in Orlando Florida.
There was a lot going on in other places that day, but Hurricane season was getting hot and heavy for this August 13th in 2004, and much of America was paying attention to that.
