Over to Sachsen-Anhalt Germany tonight for a concert from the 2014 Melt! Festival. Recorded and preserved for posterity this July 23rd by the venerable Westdeutches Rundfunk.

Together since 2012, Milky Chance, a Folk/Pop/Electronica due from Kassel Germany, have one album out so far (Sadnecessary), which has garnered a lot of attention throughout Europe. They also have a couple of eps out as well as a string of singles. All doing well. All boding well for a continued success for this engaging and inventive band.

Their set runs just a little (one minute) over an hour – and if you aren’t familiar with Milky Chance, you get to hear the whole thing right here – right now.

Further evidence Festival Season this year in Europe has been pretty spectacular. A lot of great acts and a lot of noteworthy new ones. Which only proves that, the music business might be dead, but the music certainly isn’t. Support the bands. Buy their albums, t-shirts, posters. Grab their tickets to concerts and clubs or even living rooms. The music gets to be yours now – you have the last word. Use it loudly.

And while you’re supporting all the new acts, consider passing on a little love to your friend(s) at Past Daily. We’re here because you are. We spend hours and days combing all the sites and words-of-mouth from people just like you who love music just as much as we do. Past Daily is also about history and older music – music that shaped or made a difference or become a beacon light for bands coming along now. But we need your help. Past Daily, along with Indiegogo and The Gordon Skene Sound Collection (the archive where we get all the really old stuff), is putting on a fundraiser to help keep this site and the work the Archive is doing so we can continue giving you all the best and most interesting, every day of the week. We don’t want a lot from a few of you, we need a little from a lot of you. So please consider making your Tax Deductible Contribution to help keep History alive and help keep the new stuff coming at you. Just click on the headline just below our Piano Playing Mascot and make your contribution. We’ll be here as long as you are – and we’ll be grateful for your help.
