Over to Paris this week for an as-it-was-happening concert, part of the Live from The Salle Pleyel series from Radio France Musique. This week featuring the Philharmonic of Radio France. conducted by Myung-Whun Chung and featuring the legendary Evgeny Kissin in music of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky.
Only two works performed on this 2-hour concert, aired live September 19th. It’s broken up between two players – the first (top) player has the Rachmaninov Piano Concert Number 2 and several encores from Kissin (whom the audience really didn’t want to leave). Because it’s live, the announcer was padding before the concert started, so I edited his introduction down.
The second part (lower player) features another single work – the Tchaikovsky Symphony Number 6 (Pathetique).
Wonderful performance, excellently recorded by the ever-amazing team at Radio France and an audience having a musical feast.
