Flying into the Fall/Winter Festival season tonight with a set by American Indie meisters Spoon, recorded live at last week’s London Calling-2 Festival (the Fall/Winter edition) on November 1st.

Hailed as a surprise hit at this year’s London Calling (although it came as no surprise to many on this side of the Atlantic), Spoon grabbed the Dutch audience and kept them riveted for a rather short set and gave a whole bunch of reasons why Music is alive and well and living all over.

Around since 1993, Spoon have had a goodly amount of success in the States, after a few speed bumps early on. Since 2010 they’ve been making inroads all over the rest of the world, with have some 8 albums and a pile of singles to their credit. A 2010 New York Times article proclaimed them Acclaimed but still recognizable. In the ensuing 4 years, I think that’s changed quite a bit.

Tonight’s show coincides with a new tour to promote their latest release They Want My Soul, and it’s taking them all over the U.S. between now and January and then off to Australia and points unknown after that.

Head over to their website or Facebook page and check out where they are heading in the next few months. Definitely a band to check out.
