64 hours left. Okay, the suspense is building to what is going to look like a nerve-wracking conclusion. Pledges are trickling in – and that’s hopeful. We’re now on the other side of 60% of our goal – and that’s even more hopeful. Word is getting out, friends are telling friends. People like Jamie Lawson who runs the site It Was 20 Years Ago Today have been announcing our campaign on her latest podcast – and that’s amazing (you need to check out her site and bookmark it). People like Chuck Fitzpatrick and Pat Dallas and Gerald Beg and a ton of other people are sharing this campaign on their Facebook pages and telling their friends. People are pitching in and it’s incredible what a little word of mouth can do. People telling people – that’s what it’s all about. That’s what this site is about – turning people on to history and culture and music and passing it on to their friends.
I’m pretty hopeful we’ll get through this crisis – but we’re not out of the woods yet. We are still 3 days away from calling it and there is still time.
Some of you have asked about sending checks. Yes, you can do that – when you click on the link below it will take you to the Indiegogo campaign site and you will be directed to the umbrella organization handling my campaign. They will give you an address and all the information you need to send checks, money orders or anything else you want to send in lieu of your credit card.
I don’t think I can add anything to what I’ve been saying for the past 18 updates. It’s not that I’m talked out, it’s just that I need you to get over to the link and make your pledge and contribution and tell your friends. I’m running out of time and I will keep you posted on how it’s going throughout the next 3 days.
But it’s crunch time now – time for you to click the donate button and make your decision to help. It’s tax deductible and every penny goes to keeping Past Daily up and the Archive safe from seizure. When this is over, and we make it (fingers crossed), I will continue to ask for your support by telling your friends to visit Past Daily and maybe click on an ad or two. I know everybody hates all the ads, but I have to tell you; it’s a necessary evil. The ads help pay for me being here and giving you all this history for free. I’m not a subscription site – I don’t think having to pay for something that is essential to your living on the planet and being informed is morally right. I just don’t. But we have to support this site some way – and advertising is what helps. I try to keep the annoying ones down to a minimum. However, if this site got a subsidy, a grant and foundation support, the ads would vanish (and so would my perpetually nervous stomach, as a matter of fact). But we have to do what we have to do and a perfect world is what we write about, never what we live in. So bear with me.
