Much of Svetlanov’s recorded legacy has been preserved, from his studio recordings to his radio concerts and guest appearances all over the world during his career. So this particular concert may not be all that rare, considering much of his work with Swedish radio has been rebroadcast over the years via Sveriges Radio 2.
But if you’ve missed this concert, here’s a chance to fill in your collection. Evgeny Svetlanov always put together enjoyable programs, and was part of that colorful legacy of conductors from Russia who shed illuminative points of view towards their native country’s works. He was much admired by musicians and concertgoers alike.
