Continuing our look at St. Malo’s Route du Rock Hiver 2015 festival from two weeks ago with a set by L.A.’s own Warlocks – recorded live on February 22nd.
It’s always instructive to listen to a local band do a show in another country – to see how they fare with other-than-homegrown audiences. And from the sounds of it, The Warlocks made some good impressions with the French fans. As did a lot of West Coast bands appearing at the festival in St. Malo.
Together since 1998, The Warlocks have been making a name for themselves ever since they issued their first ep on Bomp in 2002. And in the 17 years since have undergone a number of personnel and direction changes, with founder Bobby Hecksher the remaining original member in the band.
Nevertheless, The Warlocks are one of the prime examples of L.A. Psychedelia, and continue to forge their path and influence others in the process.
