Back in the days when MySpace was relevant, one of those up-and-coming bands I discovered while hitting the Browse button was Alt-J. I took an instant liking to them. They were steeped in Electronica, but they were doing it in an interesting way. And coupled with their Alternative sensibilities, they were a band that demanded to be heard, but weren’t obnoxious about it. I found myself hitting Play and hitting Repeat because I wanted to.

I posted articles on Alt-J early-on and played a hunch they would achieve a high level of popularity in the coming years. I was right. And even though they’ve gone through a few personnel changes over the past 8 years, they have maintained a high level of interest and invention and are continuing on the path they started when they first got going in 2007.

Tonight it’s a concert from La Chapelle des Beaux-Arts in Paris on February 15th of this year. Recorded by the astonishing and always surprising La Blogotheque (a site you need to visit daily), this is small affair – a private concert in an amazing setting and the acoustics are stunning.

So Alt-J continues to amaze and are busy touring. After an appearance at this years Lollapalooza Festival in Brazil, they are starting a U.S. tour which will take them to Coachella in April and at various towns before heading off to Europe in May and June. Busy band. If they are heading into your area, don’t miss them.

In the meantime, here’s what you can expect.
