The Stranglers, one of the bands who helped shape and define Punk and took off in a wide-range of directions.

Often referred to as a Punk band, Alternative band, HardRock band, Art-Rock, New Wave and Experimental – The Stranglers were hard to pin down. The audience didn’t mind. Early in their career they released 3 albums in 13 months and were all successful. The had mainstream hits while maintaining an underground presence. They were a lot of things to a lot of people.

And even though the lineup has changed over the years, The Stranglers are still together and performing.

As a sample of their earlier incarnation, here is a concert recorded by the ever-present BBC Radio 1 for their In Concert series, at the BBC’s Paris Theatre on March 24, 1977.
