Mid-80s Cure tonight. From their standout performance at the 1986 Glastonbury Festival, recorded by the venerable BBC Radio 1 on June 21, 1986.

By 1986, The Cure were becoming household names throughout the world. Having cracked the top 100 in the U.S. with Standing On The Beach and embarking on a world tour, The Cure had finally arrived.

Probably one of the pivotal bands to be associated with the early Goth movement, The Cure had an across-the-board appeal and embraced a number of genres – so it was always difficult to pin them down.

If you remember The Cure during this period, you probably know this concert – if not, you’ve missed something. If you’re just getting acquainted with The Cure; this is a good stepping-off place.

In any case – crank it up and let the room shake.

It’s Saturday night/ Sunday morning after all . . . .
