Continuing our survey of sessions from the recently ended London Calling Festival, a little over a week ago. Jake Isaac is another important discovery from this lineup of great discoveries at this Festival.

Jake Isaac is new, coming on to the scene around two years ago. A superb talent with a haunting and soulful voice, perfectly matching songs that paint pictures of stark and haunting reality.

There is a very interesting and vibrant Soul/R&B scene going in the UK right now – it’s been that way for a while, and it shows no signs of letting up. There is a reservoir of talent that fairly demands repeated hearings and Jake Isaac is right in the middle of it. I’ve had a chance to catch some of his studio material and it’s well produced and very strong. Hearing him in this live, stripped-down context enforces that feeling that here is a talent with substance. With a few ep’s to his credit and appearances the last couple of years at Glasto, Lollapalooza and others, Jake Isaac has grabbed the attention of a lot of press, who have proclaimed him an artist definitely on the rise.

Right now, he has a busy touring schedule, which is taking him all over Europe this Summer, hitting festivals and building an audience.

This session is a nice introduction to an artist you’ll be hearing a lot about in the coming months.

Things are definitely looking up this year.
