Ending up the week with another session from the recently concluded Motel Mozaique Festival in The Netherlands. This one features Leeds UK Indie/Noisepop conglomerate Menace Beach. A continuously revolving band with members coming and going almost daily, Menace Beach is essentially April Violet and Ryan Needham with guest and temporary members recruited from a wide variety of bands around the Leeds area – they’ve been casually referred to as a Supergroup in some circles from the notables who have stopped by to join in. They’ve been together since 2012 and are slowly moving up the ranks of the enthusiastically received.

Big favorites around BBC 6 Music, in particular DJ Marc Riley, who has featured them in session on his show periodically, the band released their debut album, Ratworld for their new label Memphis Industries, earlier this year. Reviews are still coming in and the verdict hasn’t been reached just yet, but many are citing a clear kinship with early 90s Alternative bands, a period of music that has gotten considerable attention in recent years, particularly the Indie scene.

This session, from Motel Mozaique comes from April 11 of this year. Just a shade over 17 minutes, the set is short and to-the-point.

And for a Friday night, can benefit from being played loud.

And while you’re busy blowing out your eardrums, we’re in the middle of our Past Daily Spring Fundraiser. We’re trying to raise $15,000 by the end of the month in order to meet expenses and keep the site up and running. If you like what we do and like new stuff as well as really old stuff – chip in a few bucks and show the love. We really need it and we can’t do it without you.

So click on the link below (the smiling Teddy Roosevelt) and make your pledge, in whatever amount you’re comfortable with. Although a 20 would do wonders, so would 100, but I’m not greedy. It’s up to you, but do it – if we hit our goal early, we’ll quit and go back to everyday life. It’s up to you – but we really need to hear from you.
