Talk radio in the early days was a whole lot different than it is now. The legendary Bob Crane, who had one of the most popular morning shows in Los Angeles radio in the early 1960s, had a steady stream of stars and notables dropping in on his show. Aside from his own role in the wildly popular Hogan’s Heroes TV series, Crane was a likable personality and his guest roster read like a who’s who of the famous.

On this particular show, an excerpt from the broadcast of April 14, 1965, Crane had the iconic actor Vincent Price and noted Astrologer Sydney Omar as guests.

Price is promoting an upcoming appearance for a local theatre production of Peter Pan, and also offering a few tidbits about his knowledge of The Beatles. Sydney Omar talks about his new book and tosses out a few predictions. It’s a typical talk show, one which keeps running gags and music liberally dispersed throughout the show.

Here is a surviving 11 minute excerpt from the original hour, but a glimpse at what mainstream Popular Culture was all about during the mid-1960s.
