Day 15 – Halfway to our deadline and 11% of our goal. True, there’s a lot of distraction going on lately and I know a some of you like to put off things until the last minute – I know I do. Why do today what you can put off until 11:59:59 pm on the last day? And sometimes it just slips our minds – every good intention of going over and making your pledge; doing it right now, and then something happens and it just gets lost in the priorities. There also is that thing of “someone else will do it”, that creeps up from time to time. We’re all guilty of taking free rides from time to time.
But here’s the deal – what Past Daily is about isn’t Corporate Sponsorship – it’s not about being bankrolled by an organization with deep pockets and who tells me what to post. I don’t have anybody – just me and you, the people kicking in $25 or $50 to see Past Daily continue doing what it loves to do best and hopefully what you enjoy the most, and sharing it with your friends or the people you work with who will feel the same way as you do and chip in a few bucks to help it along. And that’s why I’m doing the Spring Fundraiser – it’s the time of year with possibilities and renewal and I’m asking for your support. A little goes a long way around here and I am grateful for every dime, because it goes directly into the running of the site and the archive. Both are full time jobs on their own – I have to split my time between them. And there are only so many hours in the day to get everything done, which is why I am sometimes late on regular postings. I have also been known to fall asleep in the middle of writing a sentence, or just too exhausted to put up a nightly music post. But I try to be consistent and I try to give you the best of what I have and to do it every day, 365 days a year.
And so I need your support, and that’s why I’m passing the hat. If you like what Past Daily is trying to do, please consider chipping in, even a small amount.
