The Cannonball Adderley Sextet – Live at Lugano, Switzerland – March 24, 1963 – Swiss Radio/TV

Something soothing for a post-4th. The Cannonball Adderley Sextet, live in Lugano Switzerland – recorded on March 24, 1963 by Swiss Radio and Television.

Collectors will know this concert inside and out, as it’s been available on Video, together with a concert in Germany from the same year. But in case you’re not aware, or are newly introduced to Jazz, this is classic Adderley, and a memorable lineup with brother Nat on cornet, Yuseff Lateef on tenor sax, flute and oboe, Joe Zawinul on piano, Sam Jones on bass and Louis Hayes on drums.

A little over an hour and ten minutes, this is one to turn on, sit back and collect your thoughts to.

And considering the amount of celebrating some of you did yesterday, probably just what the Doctor ordered.
