Back over to Geneva for more Radio studio sessions featuring l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande conducted by Edmond Appia and recorded circa 1950.
This week it’s the music of Roget Vuataz- a composer probably not all that familiar to many, but if you’ve been visiting the site regularly here he won’t be such a stranger, as I’ve run some of his chamber works in previous months via Paris Radio from roughly the same time period.
In addition to his compositional work, Vuataz was an organist, professor and head of the Music Department of Radio Geneva from 1944 to 1964. He mostly likely supervised this radio recording of his Petit Concert for small orchestra.
If you aren’t familiar with the music of Roger Vuataz, here is a good introduction. Hopefully it will prompt you to dig around for more – much of his prodigious outut is currently available on CD in Switzerland.

The Ondes Martinot is an electronic musical instrument, not a “distinguished composer”.
It was Maurice Martinot who invented the Ondes Martinot who was a distinguished inventor, not so much composer. The information came from a Swiss Music site with “gist” translation. Rather than go through all the explanation, I dropped it from the post.
