It’s still Summer and it’s still Festival Season – and not to be left out of the must-see festivals this year was the legendary Route du Rock Festival at St. Malo in France.
One of the highlights of that festival had to be The Thurston Moore Band, who turned in an astonishing hour of wall-to-wall incredible. Moore, as most of you know, was the founding member of Sonic Youth along with Kim Gordon, Lee Rinaldo and Steve Shelley. Since their hiatus in 2011, and more recently, words to the effect the band will resume as soon as the separation between Gordon and Moore is worked out.
In the meantime, Moore is continuing on several solo projects as well as this band, which Moore formed in 2014 with former Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley.
This latest chapter in the music adventures of Thurston Moore is some of the most interesting – and this set at Route du Rock was a standout occasion. Luckily it was captured for posterity.
