Diving through vinyl this weekend. Coming up with early Ike & Tina Turner. During their stint with Sue Records, from the 1963 album Don’t Play Me Cheap – 4 tracks off that album:
1. Wake Up
3. Don’t Play Me Cheap
4. My Everything To Me
Tina Turner, after her divorce from Ike, went on to become one of the greatest solo artists of the 70s and 80s. Here she is in an earlier context – part of that duo which was once considered “One of the hottest, most durable and potentially most explosive of all R&B ensembles.”
Have a listen.
