The La's - certainly upbeat enough.

The La’s – In Session at 3FM, The Netherlands – April 17, 1992 – VPRO

Taking a quick detour to the 90s tonight, with a band having a solid fanbase in the Europe and the UK, but not much dent in the musical life of the U.S. during the mid-80s through the early 90s.

The La’s were an Indie band from Liverpool, formed in 1983 and calling it quits (during their 80s incarnation) in 1992, shortly after this session for 3FM in The Netherlands.

For a band not all that well known on this side of the Atlantic, The La’s were influential on the UK Indie scene in the mid-late 80s, and their initial impact on the Press when their first album was issued (in 1990) was palpable – hailed by many as representing the “New Liverpool Sound”.

Unfortunately, this is a rather short set The La’s gave while visiting the Netherlands in Spring of 1992 (just a shade under 6 minutes), but you get a good idea what they sounded like and why they were so influential with many bands on their way up.

Have a listen and see if you can remember them during the early 90s.
