Okay - maybe some of you just don't want to hear about it.
Okay – maybe some of you just don’t want to hear about it.

Day # 19 – 12 days left – still at 6% of our goal – but some great  words of support, the past 24 hours. Sometimes, the verbal pat-on-the-back is worth more than a pledge – it means maybe I am doing something right. See; that’s the problem with having a website, and the internet in general – it’s the deceptive anonymity; we think we make no difference to anyone. Often,  it prompts us to say and do things we regret later – thinking no matter what we say or do, no one will notice. And then someone does and you realize you haven’t been alone all along. Past Daily has been going for three years now – before that, it was known as Newstalgia. When it was the old site, I never knew if anybody noticed the history, or cared about it or even liked it. I was pretty much in the dark; going on hunches that I was heading in the right direction. When I stopped posting as Newstalgia and started posting as Past Daily, it was slow going – building an audience from scratch – reaching out to new people; a broader base. There have been hints and glimmers that Past Daily is getting out to people – and every day, more and more of you show up, check out what’s going on, listen to any one of the thousands of posts I already have up and quietly leave.

It’s the “quietly leave” part that has me concerned at the moment. Although you are under no obligation, it would help us out if you could kick in a couple bucks to help keep Past Daily going. We do this a couple times a year (actually, we had one emergency at the beginning of the year that a lot of you performed miracles to get us through), and all we ask is whatever you’re comfortable with giving, we will be more than grateful for. Its Tax Deductible and every penny goes into improving the site and making it better, and to continue the task of preserving, restoring and digitizing the thousands of hours of historic material we still have to go through. It’s my goal to make everything in my archive available on-line, via Past Daily – that’s almost a half-million hours of rare news, broadcasts, music and Culture for you to dig through and discover and pass on to others. It’s a full-time commitment on my part, even though I have the “day-job” side I still maintain – it makes for not much sleep these past three years. But I love what I do and I have respect for my audience, which is why I don’t want to relentlessly hound about donations, but rather politely ask that, if you like us – help us. Simple.

Just click on the link in the box below and make your pledge, in whatever amount you are comfortable with – we are grateful to those of you who have so far, and welcome with open arms, the ones who are getting ready to.
