SOAK – getting a lot of critical attention of late.

SOAK – Live at Debaser Strand, Stockholm – October 7, 2015 – Sveriges Radio P3

New faces tonight. SOAK, who is otherwise known as Bridie Monds-Watson, is an Irish singer-songwriter who, at 19 has issued her debut album (Before We Forgot How To Dream) in May. She has gotten raves from no less than BBC 6 Music and The Guardian newspaper, proclaiming her “One To Watch” and the BBC putting her on the long list for The Sound of 2015 of new up-and-comers.

Not bad for an artist who got her start only three years ago at age 16, and even that early was already creating a stir with press and audiences. Described as “a vivid portrait of teenage deep-thinking” and “not so wet behind the ears”, Monds-Watson has combined Indie Folk and Dream Pop into a heady stew of essays on the human condition, as viewed by someone who seems a lot more mature than her 19 years would otherwise suggest.

Right now it’s a question of getting the message across, and she’s been on a tour of the UK promoting the release of her debut album. She did a sweep of the U.S. earlier this year playing at The Echoplex here in L.A., and a video of her performance at KEXP in Seattle is on her site. Right now it’s gearing up for 2016 with dates in Australia as well as starting to sell out venues as word continues to spread.

All for someone who turned 19 this past July 12th, she is a seasoned veteran of touring and doing club dates.

If you missed her earlier this year during her U.S. sweep, you can hear her now via her appearance a few weeks ago at Debaser Strand in Stockholm, faithfully recorded and preserved by Sveriges Radio in Stockholm.

If you aren’t familiar, I would suggest you dive into this concert and check her album out and visit her Facebook page to see what she’s up to.

Always something new to discover – what music should always be about.
