Eagles Of Death Metal with U2 – On Stage At Bercy Arena, Paris – December 7, 2015 – Ronan le Doeuff

Eagles of Death Metal, returning to Paris tonight, literally hours ago and appearing on stage with U2 in a tribute to the people of Paris, and the resilience of the human spirit.

They said they were coming back to finish their set, and they were good on their word. In an overwhelmingly emotional closing song to their set, The Eagles of Death Metal, along with U2 performed Patti Smith‘s People Have The Power.

I am sure you’ll be hearing and seeing this video a lot in the coming weeks. This one was captured by Ronan le Doeuff who, like everyone else in the arena, was overcome by the sheer emotion and power of the moment – and watching this some hours later and a few thousand miles away, finding it hard to choke back what has been a very overwhelming moment – that triumph of the human spirit – giving the collective finger to those whose ignorance and hate try to kill what is an unstoppable and ever-present spirit. Music is the glue that holds everyone together – it’s the thing that brings us to common ground – it’s the beauty and joy that spreads passion and instills the spirit of our better natures. Guns and hate will never overcome that.

And tonight, just hours ago, it was proven again. You will never triumph over music. And Jesse, Dave, Matt and Julian along with Bono and U2 gave us further evidence that Music is Love and Love rules.

Crank it up and don’t stop.
