7 Days left – 7 days, and a little under half of our goal reached. It’s the last full weekend before we pack it up and go home. Nail-biting is a real activity right now – you always wonder, when you do a Fundraiser, if you’re going to make it before the deadline or not. A lot of people wait until the last minute – a lot of people are on the fence about supporting a website like this, or an archive that supplies all the sounds you hear. A lot of you have already contributed, or contributed in previous fundraisers and you want to sit this one out. I don’t blame you – it’s a drag, listening to pitching all the time – you just want to hear the interviews or the Pop Culture – dive into a concert, and not be hassled by pleas for money. But we gotta do it – we don’t get support any other way – advertising doesn’t pay for it – we aren’t underwritten by a corporation – don’t have deep pockets – we scrape what we can together to keep it going because we’re committed to bringing you history you may not be familiar with – voices you may have heard about, but never heard. Music that either takes you back or turns you on – all these things and a lot more, that’s what Past Daily does every day – and we do it because history is important, knowing about the world around you is important – knowing that some things have happened over and over is crucial – being introduced to something new and unfamiliar is necessary. Like they always say – “A mind is like a parachute – it only works when it’s open” – that’s what we’re trying to accomplish here.
All I ask is that you consider supporting it, in whatever way you’re willing to do – you can chip in a little or a lot. You can tell your friends. We need your support during these last critical days. And I hate to sound like a broken record, but we really need your help – we can’t do this without you. So, however you’re willing to do it, please do what you can. I always say “we’re because you are” and that’s true – if it wasn’t for the people who visit every day, there wouldn’t be any reason to be here. But I keep getting evidence we might be doing something right here – and I want to stay. I’m here for the long haul, but it really can’t happen unless you chip in and be part of it.
