Over to Paris this week for a concert by Orchestre d’Ile-de-France, conducted by Stanlislav Kochanovsky and featuring the German-born brilliant violinist Alissa Margulis in a program of music by Liadov and Prokofiev. It was recorded on January 31, of this year by the venerable Radio France Musique and their stellar recording team. And of course, the announcements are in French, enthusiastic and informative.

Pretty straight-forward concert this week – no obscurities – no world premiers. Just an evening of solid playing by an orchestra rapidly becoming one of the great French bands of the concert stage, led by one of the new bright lights on the podium, accompanying a brilliant violinist who has dazzled concert audiences all over the world, these past few years. A good lineup.
All in all, an excellent concert and a much-needed stress reliever. Since we’re right in the middle of the week and it’s all downhill from here, might as well celebrate by kicking your shoes off, pulling up bottle of your choice and turning this one up to an appreciable level and just let the day go away.
