Gary Numan In Session – 2013 – Past Daily Soundbooth

Gary Numan
Gary Numan – ever since Tubeway Army, maintains a cult following.

Gary Numan – In Session – BBC 6 Music – Sept. 18, 2013 – BBC 6 Music –

Gary Numan to end the week and start a new one. Going back to the 1970s when he was lead singer for Tubeway Army and then going solo later on. He injected electronica into the New Wave atmosphere with Cars as one of his most successful singles both overseas and here in the U.S.

Numan has maintained a solid, and flourishing cult following – his brand of Synth and Industrial Pop has been his mainstay for going on these many years and it has served him very well. With 25 studio and 27 live albums to his credit, including a new studio venture, Savage (Songs From A Broken World), issued only a few days ago, Gary Numan continues without letup. This all going to prove that he is still very much a driving force in the UK Electronic scene, and those just discovering him now are finding his older material just as engaging and relevant as his newer material.

With a string of hits to his credit, Numan continues putting out solid and highly regarded albums. His latest album, released on September 18th has entered the charts at #2 as of September 22 – clearly, he has been on a very long winning streak.

This session, ironically recorded on September 18th, 2013 came out around the same as his previous album, Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) was releasede. Coincidences abound here.

Currently touring the UK before embarking on the rest of Europe and coming back to tour the States in December. If you haven’t seen Gary Numan in a while, or at all, there are several good opportunities to catch him in concert. In the meantime, here is what he was up to four years ago in session for BBC 6 Music.

Suggested listening level: somewhere around 11.
