Unknown Mortal Orchestra In Session – 2018 Past Daily Soundbooth

Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Unknown Mortal Orchestra – From the get-go, the band everybody watched.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra – In Session for Marc Riley – Feb. 27, 2018 – BBC 6 Music –

Unknown Mortal Orchestra to end the Working Week – A band that’s been high on everyone’s radar since they first made their presence known in 2010. I think my first encounter with the band was via VPRO‘s 3VOOR12-FM outlet in The Netherlands, possibly via one of the many Dutch music festivals or from the Studio sessions they run about as often as BBC 6 Music does. Whatever it was, it made an instant impact and I’ve been a fan ever since.

From the release of their first album in 2011 on, UMO have been grabbing acclaim from critics and audiences – and fortunately, their success has been worldwide (they did their first series of gigs in the U.S. in 2012). Ever since then, they’ve been regular staples in the Festival diet, and their regular concerts have been sell-outs pretty much everywhere.

I don’t need to give you the sales pitch. If you know this band, you don’t need any additional reasons to hit the “play button” and give this acoustic session broadcast live on Marc Riley’s show on BBC 6 music just a few days ago, a listen. If you missed it, here it is.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra are one of those bands that confirm a hunch that music is still in very good places and capable of saying something new, or at least something old in a new way. They don’t belong to the Mainstream and that may cause some to not be familiar with them. That’s okay, but it’s no excuse not to check them out. As an FYI, they are starting a North America tour starting in April, and for you L.A. folks, they are hitting The Wiltern on May 11. Right after that, they head to Europe for a pile of Summer Festivals (Primavera Sound in Barcelona!) – lucky you.

In the meantime, crank this one up and get ready for the weekend.
