Nixon In Session – Madrid 2018 – Past Daily Soundbooth – Rock Without Borders Edition

Nixon – Further proof Spanish Indie is happening.

RNE Radio 3 – Nixon in session – Madrid – June 27, 2018 – RNE Radio 3 –

Nixon in session tonight. No – not to be confused with a mysterious resurrection of Richard Nixon, but one of the more interesting bands to come out of the Indie scene in Spain in recent years.

I don’t know – there appears to be a predilection on the parts of some Europeans to name their bands after various events that could only happen in America. A couple of years ago there was a French band who named themselves Exxon Valdes, presumably in honor of the Alaska oil spill scandal – I think some enterprising young Attorney seized the opportunity to convince them it wasn’t in the group’s best interest to name yourself after one of the worst oil spills in years.

Nixon (the band), have been together some 5 years – have a new album out right now and have been embarking on an intensive tour all over Spain. They are further proof the Indie scene in Spain is a healthy one. They’ve been hitting most all the Festivals currently going on and are grabbing good press and enthusiastic audiences along the way.

This session, done for Radio Nacional EspaƱa this past June has been in support of the new album. RNE has been a big supporter of the band and they have done numerous interviews and live sessions over the past few years.

It’s anybody’s guess whether or not they will show up in the U.S. (at one of the festivals) anytime soon.

If you haven’t been paying much attention to the various music scenes in the UK as well as the rest of Europe and South America lately, here’s a little something to whet your appetite and maybe put you in the direction to discover more. Browsing is a virtue, not a vice – check out what else there is happening.

In the meantime, crank it up and get ready for the week . . .
